Project: Issaquah Endodontics Wall Sculpture, Issaquah, Washington

Artist: Michael Church

Artist Michael ChurchChallenge: The client has a long hallway with a feature wall at the end. Patients come in and are nervous about the upcoming surgery, so the client wanted an environment to soothe, add color and dimension to the cavernous architecture.

Solution: Glass Artists Gallery helped the client visualize a beautiful wall sculpture with metal work imitating the shape of vines and leaves behind various size hand-blown glass platters. Lighting existed in the space as were the wall coloring. This project took 8 weeks from start to installation.

Dimensions: 94” tall x 48” wide. Each “platter was between 13” diameter up to 29” diameter.

Testimonial: Earlier this year, we commissioned Glass Artists Gallery to design a unique glass sculpture for a space in our Endodontic office. Our office is a very modern, upscale, state-of-the-art facility and the space we asked them to work with is a main focal point within the practice.

Artist Michael ChurchOur goal was to find something that complemented our décor, was bold and colorful, made a 'wow!' statement, and yet was subtle enough to suggest quiet elegance. Quite a big order, to say the least. Suzanne at Glass Artists Gallery and her team not only rose to the occasion but went far above our expectations with regard to both professionalism and the final product they delivered.

The piece that they Michael created is truly breathtaking and has enhanced the beauty of our office. The project came in at the discussed budget and ahead of the final installation deadline. We have received countless compliments from patients and visitors to our office and are absolutely thrilled with the final product.

We would highly recommend Glass Artists Gallery.

Artist Michael ChurchAbout the Artist: Michael Church lives in the Pacific Northwest, and is surrounded by a vigorous natural landscape. Plants, stone and water change quickly and through interaction broaden the spectrum of colors and textures. Shapes and forms made by natural forces ring a primeval bell deep in the human psyche. Michael works with glass and steel, primarily. The creation of his art involves high temperatures, electricity, fire, and earth elements. The topics and feelings of the work reflect those natural forces. By bringing the perceived world through an inner process, Michael creates a unique lens, giving the viewer a look at the beauty he sees, if only for a moment.

Currently, Michael manages Martin Blank Studios, a glass blowing studio in Seattle, Washington, as well as assisting Martin in creating his glass sculptures. Michael also handles all metal fabrication for the artwork as well as fabricating custom tools for Martin. He has been training with Blank for the last 3 years. Blank's generous sharing of his vast skill and knowledge has been instrumental in realizing Michael's own lines of glass and steel art. He has worked with many Seattle artists including Team Chihuly, Henner Schroder, and others. Michael has chosen an educational path of his own, weaving through many studios and workshops in his life. The Old World style of learning Michael's craft through apprenticeship is very appealing to him.
